FAQs

How does the Canva integration work? Can I send designs directly to my Buffer queue?

Buffer’s Canva integration lets you open Canva from inside the Buffer composer, create or edit a design, then export the finished image straight back into your post. There is no direct “send to Buffer queue” button inside Canva, so you still add copy and choose Add to Queue, Schedule, or Save as Draft in Buffer.

Why did my Zapier or automation stop posting to Buffer, and how do I fix it?

Automations usually stop when something changes, such as an expired Buffer connection, a disconnected social channel, an invalid media URL, or a filter skipping the Buffer step. Re-check the Buffer action, reconnect the Buffer app in your automation tool, and test with a simple post to isolate the issue.

Does Buffer automatically recycle evergreen content, or do I need another tool?

Buffer does not currently offer a fully automated evergreen recycling loop. You can reshare content manually or via bulk uploads, but for true “set it and forget it” recurring queues you’ll need a dedicated evergreen tool or an automation that pushes posts into Buffer.

How do UTM parameters and Bitly work together in Buffer?

UTM parameters are used for campaign attribution in analytics tools like Google Analytics, while Bitly provides click tracking via shortened links. When used together, Buffer appends UTMs first, then shortens the full URL with Bitly. You analyze traffic quality in analytics and click counts in Bitly.

Why can’t I see my Dropbox or Google Drive files when I try to add them in Buffer?

If cloud storage appears connected but shows no files, it’s usually due to account mismatch, missing permissions, blocked pop-ups or cookies, or browser extensions. Buffer uses a secure third-party file picker, so browser and account settings often cause these issues.

What can Buffer’s AI Assistant do, and how is it different from using ChatGPT?

Buffer’s AI Assistant is built on OpenAI but lives directly inside the Buffer composer. It’s designed specifically for drafting, rewriting, and repurposing social posts while respecting channel limits, so you can go from idea to scheduled post without switching tools.

Which Buffer integrations should I use to create and schedule video content more efficiently?

Buffer works best as the scheduling layer for video. Most creators pair it with a video editor plus cloud storage or the Buffer mobile app, then upload or attach finished video files to posts for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

Can I connect WordPress, RSS, Notion, or Airtable to automatically create Buffer posts?

Yes. WordPress and RSS feeds can create Buffer posts directly or via automation tools, and platforms like Notion or Airtable can connect through tools such as Zapier or Make. Many teams start by sending posts as drafts before fully automating queues.

What’s the difference between Buffer’s built-in tools and third-party integrations?

Buffer’s built-in tools, like Start Page and the UTM Generator, work out of the box with your account. Third-party integrations are separate products that connect via permissions to extend Buffer’s functionality, often with their own plans and settings.

If I’m using multiple tools, what’s the best order to connect them to Buffer?

The most stable setup is to connect social channels first, confirm manual posting works, then add creation and storage tools, and only afterward layer in automations. This minimizes breakage when permissions or channels change.
