FAQs
What is the Buffer and Zapier integration?
What is the Buffer and Zapier integration?
The Buffer and Zapier integration lets you connect Buffer to thousands of other apps and build automated workflows, called Zaps, without writing any code. A Zap runs when a trigger happens in one app and tells Buffer to do something in response, like creating a post or saving an idea. You can use it to auto-create posts from spreadsheets, form submissions, RSS feeds, and more. Zapier is an official, first-party Buffer partner.
How does Zapier work with Buffer?
How does Zapier work with Buffer?
Zapier connects Buffer to other apps using a trigger and an action. The trigger is the event that starts the workflow, like a new row in a Google Sheet, and the action is what Buffer does in response, like adding that content to your queue. You build each Zap once, test it, then turn it on so it runs automatically. No code is required, and you can chain Buffer into workflows alongside any of the 7,000+ apps Zapier supports.

What can I automate with Buffer and Zapier?
What can I automate with Buffer and Zapier?
You can automate how content gets into Buffer and react to activity inside it. Common Zaps include adding posts to your queue from a Google Sheet, sending new WordPress posts or RSS items to Buffer, and saving ideas automatically. Buffer's available actions include Add to Buffer, Create Idea, uploading images or video, adding alt text, and pausing your queue. Triggers include a new sent post, a new draft, a new contribution awaiting approval, and a new idea created.
Is the Buffer Zapier integration free?
Is the Buffer Zapier integration free?
Yes, the Zapier integration is free with Buffer. You can connect the two accounts and start building Zaps at no extra cost from Buffer's side, and you can begin on Buffer's Free plan with no credit card. Paid Buffer plans raise your limits and unlock more as you grow, but you don't need one to try automating your workflow with Zapier.
What triggers and actions does Buffer support in Zapier?
What triggers and actions does Buffer support in Zapier?
Buffer offers four triggers in Zapier: New Sent Item, New Draft, New Contribution, and Idea Created. Available actions include Add to Buffer, Create Idea, uploading single or multiple images, uploading video, adding alt text for accessibility, importing media from links or cloud storage, and pausing or unpausing your queue. There's also channel-specific support for Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, Threads, X, LinkedIn, and Google Business Profile.
Can I post to all my social channels through Zapier?
Can I post to all my social channels through Zapier?
Yes, the integration supports posting to Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, Threads, X, LinkedIn, and Google Business Profile through Buffer's Zapier actions, including network-specific options like Pinterest destination URLs and Facebook Reels and Stories. One thing to note: if you want the same content sent to multiple channels, you'll need to create a separate Zap for each channel rather than one Zap that fans out to all of them.
How do I send images or videos to Buffer through Zapier?
How do I send images or videos to Buffer through Zapier?
Use a direct download link to the media file, not a regular share link. Many cloud drives and image hosts give you a "share link" that opens a preview page, which Buffer can't download from automatically. For example, a Google Drive share link won't work, but its direct-download form (https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=FILEID) will. Each service formats direct links differently, so find the direct link for yours. See Buffer's Zapier guide for examples.
How do I send RSS feed posts to Buffer automatically?
How do I send RSS feed posts to Buffer automatically?
Connect an RSS source like Feedly to Buffer using a Zap that triggers on new feed items and adds them to your Buffer queue. Sign up for a free Zapier account, link your Buffer account, then set up the RSS trigger and the Add to Buffer action. If you want feed items sent to more than one channel, create a separate Zap for each channel. Buffer's Zapier guide covers the RSS setup.
Can I use Buffer with Zapier's AI agents?
Can I use Buffer with Zapier's AI agents?
Yes, you can use Buffer inside Zapier's AI agent features through its MCP Client. In Zapier, go to Connections, add a connection, and search for MCP Client by Zapier. Fill in the server URL https://mcp.buffer.com/mcp, set transport to Streamable HTTP, leave OAuth off, and paste a Buffer API key as the bearer token. You can generate or copy an API key at publish.buffer.com/settings/api.
Can I add first comments on Instagram and LinkedIn through Zapier?
Can I add first comments on Instagram and LinkedIn through Zapier?
Yes. Buffer's Zapier actions can add a first comment when you publish, and on Instagram and LinkedIn this is available on Buffer's paid plans. First comment on Facebook is also supported. Adding a first comment is useful for hashtags or extra context, keeping your main caption clean while still giving your audience the links or tags you want.
