February 2025 Shareholder Update
💡 Sent to shareholders on
Hi there,
After a strong January, the whole team has been celebrating the continuation of these results into February and hitting new milestones. Read on for more details about February’s key numbers and updates.
Key numbers
Notes:
- We added over 1,000 net new customers for the third straight month. This is a milestone we haven’t reached since 2017.
- Revenue continued to grow despite the shorter month, rising $21K month over month and 14.8% year over year.
- Profitability remains strong: we finished the month with $119K in net income, making it our third month above $100K in the past four months. Our EBITDA margin hit 9.53%, the highest since May 2021.
Note-worthy updates and reflections
Weekly Posting Goals
Following the success of Streaks in January, the product team is testing another feature aimed at consistency: Weekly Posting Goals (currently in beta). This builds on our core belief that when we help customers build consistent habits, everyone wins. Having clear goals enables users to set a target and build a posting schedule around it to support a deeper habit formation opportunity for our users. We’re looking forward to releasing this to more users in the coming months.
Evolving Comments
Our product team has been reimagining how responding to comments works within Buffer, bringing a major upgrade to what is currently our Engage tool. The goal is to help users respond to comments more seamlessly. We know that people can rapidly build their community and audience by promptly responding to the comments their posts receive, and we know that algorithms reward this by weighting those posts more highly in the feed. The first iteration will be focused on Threads, a channel we’ve seen a lot of interest in and a partner that has been actively working on their API. We’re looking forward to sharing more in the coming months. See the design previews on Threads here.
Ongoing Brand Refresh
Our design team continues to refine and elevate the Buffer experience — from product UI to the website and email design. The most recent update is the Buffer homepage, which is a great example of the fresh direction we’re heading visually.
Adopting Linear Company-Wide
In February, we officially adopted Linear as our organization-wide project management tool. After months of thoughtful bottom-up and top-down evaluation, we made the call to fully replace Jira and consolidate around a single, modern tool. Linear is quickly becoming a foundational part of how we operate, and early feedback from the team has been overwhelmingly positive. It’s already helping us move faster, stay aligned, and ship with more clarity.
Thank you for reading and for your continued support.
