Q1: Is Pinterest a part of your current social media strategy?
From the community:
A1. Definitely! Like YouTube, Pinterest is a search platform & a great place to drive discovery and new website visitors. It’s not great for building a following or community though #bufferchat
— Devlin Kenny (@DevlinKenny) May 30, 2018
A1 It’s not, but I’d like to incorporate it. I’ve heard from so many bloggers that it drives so much traffic to their site. I’d like to make it part of my strategy in the next 3-5 months. #bufferchat

A1. For our agency, no, Pinterest is not part of our current strategy. However, we do use it with some of our clients who embody a more visual brand. #bufferchat https://t.co/h6PuLDXVZZ

Q2: What types of content work well on Pinterest?
From the community:
A2. I’m usually drawn to how-to carousel images. It takes me on a story and shows me what to do without leaving the platform. #bufferchat pic.twitter.com/DWTFSPJ6Pq

A2.
Anything that is informative (blog posts, recipes, DIY)
or
beautiful (fashion photos, travel locations, flat lays.)
Truly think back to what Pinterest was made for — a beautifully-curated digital bulletin board!#BufferChat pic.twitter.com/WHbM2ky3xD

A2: Design, fashion, fitness and parenting content all perform well on @Pinterest but we see the best performance with food content! (especially when the presentation is #onpoint). #bufferchat pic.twitter.com/h42RzaIuK2

Q3: How can you use Pinterest to your advantage even if you don’t have a typical “Pinterest-worthy” type of business?
From the community:
A3: Everyone can use Pinterest even if they’re not “Pinterest-worthy!” I don’t think there’s such a thing. If you’re good at something, you can teach it. If you can teach it, you can turn it into content. If you can turn it into content, you can Pinterest it. #bufferchat https://t.co/2l44omRjHt

A3 Info graphics can be almost universally applied! And it’s a great opportunity to create content around the industry you’re in (and not just your exact product/niche). Create boards and mix images with articles- and they don’t need to be just yours #bufferchat
— WTF ? Katie (@WeirdTrvlFriend) May 30, 2018
A3: I mainly use it to gather inspiration or to find ways I can turn data into visuals.
It can also be helpful to keep an eye on what similar businesses do with their Pinterests.#bufferchat

Q4: What type of posting strategy do you use on Pinterest?
From the community:
A4: #Pinterest it is important to
1. Eye-catching visuals
2. Name boards wisely/save your pins to the right board
3. Link multiple pins to the same place
4. Use good keywords/hashtags
More engagement with content, more people it reaches, it’s important to engage #BufferChat

A4) With Pinterest, this is how we do it:
?Pin whenever there is a visual content on our blog or website.
♻ Rehash and recycle old content into new visuals with a little extra to offer.

#A4 #Bufferchat: I think using communal/group boards is a good way to bring more attention to boards. Apart from that regular pinning of visually-rich images, using board names that audiences can relate to, tagging the right links is important to gain an audience on #Pinterest

Q5: Do you use rich pins? In what way?
From the community:
A5.
Oh yes! An IMPORTANT part of the Pinterest Strategy is Rich Pins.
Rich Pins are very easy to set up if you have a self hosted blog and the Yoast plugin.
It displays the title of the post/meta description/name of the author. Cool, huh?

A5: I do use rich pins. It helps people understand what the pin is about because a strong description is underneath the pin rather than the pin standing alone #bufferchat

A5) Haven’t used “rich pins” as yet but surely sounds interesting and worth a look. #bufferchat pic.twitter.com/vYedgzPqXO
