Q1: What kinds of content provide the best conversion rates in Facebook ads?
From the community:
A1: videos all day. People don’t read so hit them visually with a quick CTA. It’s about speed….to grab attention. #bufferchat pic.twitter.com/2MMu8gC62t
— Joe Gill (@joegill88) January 10, 2018
A1. A1 Depends on the campaign’s goal & who we’re targeting.
But overall:
✅Short copy + format (make sure the most relevant part stands out)
✅Not salesy, more genuine
✅Great visuals
✅Say the real deal of what they will get once they click #bufferchat
— Kiki (@Typ0queen) January 10, 2018
A1: That’s a fairly subjective question. Depends on your audience and what they react to! Regardless, your content should have a direct CTA and captivating visual content. Whether your audience prefers links, photos, videos, etc. it has to look good. #bufferchat pic.twitter.com/OlwkVPDJ2k
— Anne Mercer (@Anne_E_Mercer) January 10, 2018
A1: You want to stand out to newsfeed scanners ?, but blend in with your brand. Of course video ads are HUGE, but personally I pay LESS attention to video than I do to a strong, static visual! #bufferchat

Q2: How do you determine what is the “right” amount to spend on Facebook ads?
From the community:
A2. Industry benchmarks are okay, to begin with – but it really depends on your existing reach, your *targeted* reach (broad or narrow), the seasonality of when your Ad is and your industry. #BufferChat pic.twitter.com/71yLoulfHH
— Lisa ??? Social Media Manager (@lisaboylesmedia) January 10, 2018
A2: This depends on your campaign goals (and your campaign goals depend on your product & marketing strategy and so on…).
BUT:
I consider $5/day a safe amount to start with. It can provide you enough data to draw some conclusions & to test your ad variations. #bufferchat pic.twitter.com/XP31jbyQPj
— Ferencz Csuszner (@Cs_Frncz) January 10, 2018
A2. By determining my desired results, reviewing previous ads, & doing A/B testing. I take a small portion of my budget & test ads against one another to see if I can find a “sweet spot.” Once that’s done, it’s all about what I’m looking to achieve. #bufferchat pic.twitter.com/i74wRnElPA
— Danielle (@AboutDanielle_) January 10, 2018
A2: I assign a value to the goal of the promotion: determining an average spend target, optimal cost of conversion, timeframe, and target market for the ad. From there I reconvene with stakeholders to confirm/modify the budget or pivot the goal. #BufferChat pic.twitter.com/AAqXYqivVo

Q3: What are some of the most useful Facebook Ads Manager features?
From the community:
A3: Audiences and targeting features helps you get granular with targeting the right ads to the right people, and with the right messaging. Especially when leveraging retargeting bases on actions people take. #bufferchat
— Heather Pimentel (@HeatherPimentel) January 10, 2018
A3: Saved audiences are a time saver. The ability to target behaviors, interests, and demographics are key to any traffic campaign. Knowing your audience is a must. #bufferchat pic.twitter.com/oGHwSH0cxH
— Ashley Cardwell (@TheAshleyDale) January 10, 2018
A3 I love the ability to upload your email list and create an audience. Powerful. #bufferchat
— Lucille Fisher (@sageandsavvy) January 10, 2018
A3: I’d say the ad preview section that allows you to see how your ad will be formatted for each placement. You can see where your text or image may be cut off and adjust accordingly to get the most out of each placement! #bufferchat #facebook

Q4: Do you have any strategies for A/B testing the success of several Facebook ads?
From the community:
A4: Having 6 images for 1 ad is amazingly simple testing. Remarkable how powerful and influential just the right picture can be #bufferchat
— Warwick Brown (@warwickabrown) January 10, 2018
A4) Know what you are testing before you start. I know that might seem obvious but when you get into the ad account, if you don’t have a solid plan, other possibilities will start to look enticing lol! Stick to your plan! #bufferchat https://t.co/MLth51XrZX
— What Box Strategies (@WhatBoxStrategy) January 10, 2018
A4: Make small changes when A/B testing so you can really isolate what’s working and what’s not. You can switch up copy and text to find the top-performing ad.#bufferchat
— Express Writers (@ExpWriters) January 10, 2018
A4. I usually test the creatives with my ads. Because that’s the first thing that connects and entices a user to click on your ad. Next to drill it down I do A/B testing with the copy of the ad #bufferchat

Q5: What are the top KPIs you would use to determine if an ad campaign was successful?
From the community:
A5: Sales Revenue, Cost Per Lead, Traffic-to-Lead Ratio, Landing Page Conversion Rates. #bufferchat
— QL Tech Australia (@QLTechAustralia) January 10, 2018
A5: I wish I could actually say conversions, but for some businesses, tracking conversions are really difficult/confidential ? Depends on your goals, but I’d say generally, CTR, engagement % and low CPC. #bufferchat
— Loewe Chan (@sincerelyloewe) January 10, 2018
A5: Depends on the goal of the campaign. Usually:
1. New lead: Did user take the action to contact us re. our svs?
2. Visit more then one page on our website?
3. FB comment or share. Maybe page likes. #bufferchat https://t.co/8ZUqAd9WU6
— Nu-Designs (@nudesigns) January 10, 2018
A5: the Facebook score is a quick indicator too besides CTR & engagement… #bufferchat

Q6: What are some resources to learn more about Facebook ads?
From the community:
A6: Best three resources are: Facebook itself (Blueprint), YouTube (lots of good videos there), and join a Facebook group so you can interact and ask experts on that subject. #bufferchat
— Gus Younis (@GusYounis) January 10, 2018
A6: @SMExaminer hands down one of the best resources to learn how-to and updates on ads. Also, #Facebook Blueprint has great courses to teach all levels and https://t.co/ixcrhCoeD5 obviously has answers from the source! #bufferchat pic.twitter.com/wD4jrqPyoE
— Angela Ballachino (@amballachino) January 10, 2018
A6 There are tons of resources out there! Sign up for newsletters and subscribe to blogs that focus on Facebook ads. Participating in chats is always helpful too – the marketing community at large loves to share tips and expertise with each other! -Justin #bufferchat
— Mindvolt (@mindvolt) January 10, 2018
A6) Anywhere but Facebook lol! When I first started using FB ads, the best place to find the basic answers were from smaller blogs. For more advanced stuff, I like looking at Buffer blog, Hootsuite, Audiense. Facebook pages are not helpful for their own platform #bufferchat https://t.co/bK8s5tzAvq
